Bench Grinder Review

The DeWalt’s DW756 6″ bench grinder is a very capable tool that offers solid performance at a reasonable price. This is why we think it’s one of the best bench grinders for the money.
With a heavy cast iron base and casing, the tool weights in at nearly 30 lbs. This helps prevent vibration, but it’s a good idea to bolt the grinder to a work surface or install it on a dedicated grinder pedestal.
The DW756 has a 5/8 HP motor and runs at 4 amps. Numerous reviewers remarked that the grinder was extremely powerful, with many commenting that it was more aggressive than they expected.
The DW756 is well-suited for home and light commercial environments, but it’s not an industrial grade tool.
The DW756 comes with everything you need to get started, including two wheels (coarse 36 grit and fine 60 grit), metal tool rests, eye shields, and spark deflectors.
Some users commented that the tool rests were difficult to install. Others mentioned that the wheels were a bit tricky to change.
The DW756 has a three-year warranty as well as one year of free service.
- No work light
- Grinder body extends past wheels, making certain long items difficult to grind
- Confusing assembly
- A few complaints of vibration (changing wheels helped some users)

A Cheaper Alternative

If you just need to do occasional light grinding, the WEN 4276 is a much cheaper alternative to the DeWalt mentioned above.
The 4276 isn’t as heavy-duty and only has a 2.1 amp motor, but for the price it’s a perfect choice for casual home users and hobbyists.
